“When a person places the proper value on freedom, there is nothing under the sun that he will not do to acquire that freedom. Whenever you hear a man saying he wants freedom, but in the next breath he is going to tell you what he won’t do to get it, or what he doesn’t believe in doing to get it, he doesn’t believe in freedom. A man who believes in freedom will do anything under the sun to acquire . . . or preserve his freedom.” -Malcolm X

Civil litigation is the process of resolving legal disputes between two or more parties. It covers a wide range of legal issues, from breaches of contract and property disputes to personal injury claims and business conflicts. In a civil case, one party (the plaintiff) brings a claim against another party (the defendant), seeking financial compensation or some other remedy.
When you’re involved in a legal dispute, you have several options for resolving the conflict. Litigation is one path where you file a lawsuit and have a judge or jury decide the outcome. However, many disputes can be resolved outside of court through alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods like mediation or arbitration.
In mediation, a neutral third party helps you and the other side work toward a mutually agreeable solution. In arbitration, a neutral third party hears both sides and makes a binding decision. At our firm, we’ll work with you to explore all your options and choose the approach that best fits your needs.
The most crucial consideration when selecting a business structure is whether limited liability protection is something you require, as this is the main feature of such a structure. Informal company arrangements like sole proprietorships and general partnerships are usually sufficient for companies with low risk and a small customer base.
Attorneys ensure that all paperwork is prepared correctly and submitted to the appropriate authorities. Attorneys conduct title searches, can negotiate should a search turn up an issue, and, if a problem is found, can advise you on the best course of action.
